DEVELOPMENT OF MECHANIZATION STANDARDS AND BENCH-MARKS FOR LABOUR EFFICIENCY IN OIL PALM PLANTATIONS

The plantation industry has been in this country for more than a century. Efforts have been made to improve the efficiency through various means including mechanization, the success of which varies from one oranization to another. The objective of this booklet is to develop a mechanization standard for oil palm plantations on flat and slightly undulating terrain with livestock integration. With this bench-mark, estates in this category can measure the extent of mechanization that is being implemented for them, in order to increase productivity and labour ratio.
